Meet the Cast of ‘The Crucible’: L. Michael Scovel
L. Michael Scovel
“Reverend Samuel Parris is a Puritan minister more concerned with his own station and his parish’s admiration for him than he is about saving souls. He has been frustrated the past 3 years trying to serve the divisive congregation in Salem, and he knows his ministry is tenuous at best. He will stop at nothing to cast blame away from himself, and the possibility of a member of his household indulging in the corruption of witchcraft is more than he can bear.” – Michael Scovel
Michael has been acting since the age of twelve and has appeared in over sixty-five unique roles. He studied acting at Boston University and the University of Northern Iowa. Locally he has performed not only with OpenStage since 1987, but also Fort Collins Children’s Theatre, Bas Bleu Theatre, Canyon Concert Ballet and Opera Fort Collins. Notable roles include Mr. Banks in Mary Poppins, the title role in Willy Wonka, Kerry Max Cook in The Exonerated and Roy in Looking For Normal. When not onstage, Lenny is either working in the wood shop, playing strategy board games or riding his road bike. Lenny also has a private practice as a Life-cycle Celebrant®, creating and officiating personalized wedding and memorial services.
The Crucible
By Arthur Miller, Directed by Peter Anthony
“… the raw terror in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible … makes the flesh creep.” –The New York Times
The year is 1692. The village of Salem is feverish with tales of witchcraft. Deep-seated jealousies, lust and greed are erupting in the form of deadly accusations. Revenge has replaced reason; mere rumors are now damning evidence — and no one is safe. As neighbor turns against neighbor, Salem descends into a cauldron of hysteria from which it can never return. Astoundingly relevant, Arthur Miller’s enduring masterpiece dares to put us all on trial. 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. Contains adult themes.
