Meet the Cast of ‘The Crucible’: Katie Houser
Katie Houser
‘Mary Warren is a vulnerable young woman in the Proctor’s service. Torn between the powerful young girls and the innocent people they are accusing, Mary is conflicted about who to trust.’ –Katie Houser
Katie is thrilled to be making her OpenStage debut, having worked previously with the Company as a light and sound technician. In addition to OpenStage, Katie has worked with Bas Bleu Theatre, PopUp Theatre, the Fort Collins Fringe Festival and Front Range Community College both onstage and behind-the-scenes over the last two years. Her favorite roles include Hook/Mrs. Darling in Peter/Wendy with Pop Up, and Cassandra in An Iliad and Henrietta Iscariot in The Last Days of Judas Iscariotwith FRCC. She would especially like to thank Lee and Gregg at Debut Theatre, who helped start her theatre journey. It is an honor to be in a show with fellow Debut alums Heath, Teal and Lauren! She would also like to thank Peter, as always, for his amazing guidance and insight, Mag for the help with lines, and (of course!) the brilliant and hardworking OpenStage technical team. It has been such a treat to work with and learn from this lovely cast … “I hope you enjoy the show!”
The Crucible
By Arthur Miller, Directed by Peter Anthony
“… the raw terror in Arthur Miller’s The Crucible … makes the flesh creep.” –The New York Times
The year is 1692. The village of Salem is feverish with tales of witchcraft. Deep-seated jealousies, lust and greed are erupting in the form of deadly accusations. Revenge has replaced reason; mere rumors are now damning evidence — and no one is safe. As neighbor turns against neighbor, Salem descends into a cauldron of hysteria from which it can never return. Astoundingly relevant, Arthur Miller’s enduring masterpiece dares to put us all on trial. 1953 Tony Award for Best Play. Contains adult themes.
