Debbie Swann
DEBBIE SWANN graduated from Kansas State University with a B.A. in Theatre and English. From there, she earned her Master’s in Theatre with a Directing emphasis from Texas State University. She has also trained in England at The Shakespeare Center, The Academy of Dramatic Art and The Royal Shakespeare Company. Debbie is currently a Senior Instructor of Theatre and Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts at Colorado State University. She teaches acting and global encounter courses and directs plays including How I Learned to Drive, Lysistrata, and the upcoming production of Machinal. Her publication, The Art of Entertainment, has been used in CSU’s Introduction to Theatre course since 2018. She is also the director of CSU’s summer theater camp, Kids Do It All. With OpenStage, Debbie directed Steel Magnolias, Bright Ideas ,and Natural Shocks (streamed online), and appeared in Spring Awakening (OPUS Award), the Henry-nominated Don’t Dress for Dinner, and Avenue Q. Creating theater with CSU and OpenStage is her life’s passion, second to her two boys and handsome hubby.
